Oh, I'm a newbie. But that doesn't mean I can't throw one hell of a quiz!

 

I'm a twenty four year old Minnesota transplant to Seattle. It's nice not to have so many other blondes around, but whatever shall I do with all these fixies? I got into quizing when a friend of mine accidentally put me into a team of her friends. I was there for a Reddit meetup event. What I found instead was pure magic riding a unicorn of dreams. 

 

I like parties, groups of friends, and eighteen year old Japanese whiskey. I can usually afford at least two of those things. When I'm not wasting time in Borderlands 2 I meaintain a feminist blog and annoy my friends by putting it on Facebook. I have a Class Twelve Liquor Permit and I can pour as well as I swallow (there's a joke in there somewhere). Come to my quizzes and have a ball this Sunday!

The Pied Piper Ale House is only ten blocks away from where I live, and an excellent place to sub for the night! So that's where I was. About three feet at the of every hill that runs through particularly close-knit neighborhood in Seattle was a huge puddle the likes of which could rival Green Lake both in size and number of adjacent yuppies. I took care to the avoid them (whether I meant the yuppies or the puddles if for you to decide). 

After a particularly wonderful Christmas it was great to check back into my 'hood. The yule was spent at Cinebarre eating more than my share of fried pickles and laughing with my fiance Jake, my friend Rachel, all of us making fun of the suckers who saw Les Mis when they knew perfectly well Django Unchained was opening that day. Who would pass up Anne Hathaway's Catwoman caterwauling when instead they could see Samuel L. Jackson chew scenery and be as villianous as possible?!

Who knows, blame it on the rain. Thanks everyone and congrats to our winners, the Fiscal Cliff Clavens. Everyone enjoy this week for next Tuesday we launch into a new year!

When I’m not running quiz, I am usually reading about space exploration and geeking out about adventures in astronomy.  One day, when I have a pile of cash to spend, I want to spend my nights taking pictures of space…because space is pretty damn awesome.  I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I do know that if it involved something to do with astronomy, I wouldn’t be disappointed ;)

At home, I’m a mean cook so once in a while I might drop a kick ass recipe on the weekly blog.  I collect awesome video game covers and meme songs that occasionally make my playlists for quiz!  My quizzers are the best in town and I love them very much.  Except when one shouts out the answers, that will make me go Hulk in a second!

Grats to the Baby Snatching Eagles, which BTW was faked sadly.  I haven’t seen a “holy shit” video like that in a while.  Although, I do think that it could happen.

Pabst Blue Ribbon Seals came in a close second.  Nice to see you guys, it’s been a while!

CD56 had some of the most creative answers. For example:  Q: “…What’s the best thing you can do when you’re caught between the moon and NYC?”  Their answer?  Shoot up heroin…

I want to wish everyone a very happy heartfelt holiday season.  It’s been such a cool year spending Wednesday nights with some of the coolest quizzers in Seattle.   Summer quiz nights were amazing, Halloween quiz was great and LotR theme quiz was fucking outstanding!  I still have my fridge covered in quizzer art given to me over the past year.  But mostly, our dance offs will always hold a special place in my heart <3

A night of all things Tolkein went rather well I must say!  I had been looking forward to this event for a great while!  Seriously, I love any excuse to dress up in a costume and play with makeup ;)

Call and Response:

  • One Does Not Simply… “Werrk intrr Mrrrdurrr” <groans> followed by  “They’re taking the hobbits to Isengard”  “To Isengard?”  “To Isengard!!”  <cheers>

Second place team They Don’t Need Their Legs actually wrote some of their answers in Elvish.  That’s some serious geek street cred.  Respect.

I want to give a special shout out to Andrew who manned the remote controls all night to make sure my cheeky slideshows were still running.  You sir, are a gentleman.  Your next beer is on me.

It was a close game all night with a 5 point difference from 1st to 9th place by the end of round 6.  But In the end there could only be one winning team and they do not share the monies.  Not only did they win, but they wiped the floor with the rest of you by scoring a perfect 16 point round 8 and jokered that shit!  Huge grats to the champion of all things Tolkein the Nipbrethil Shipwrights!!!  They took home the grand loot of $195!!
