The things teams make me say on a microphone... Last night, we had a team who decided to be called the Kunt Lappers. I have a foul mouth as much as the next guy (epiccally more foul than most people who live in Utah Valley), and much more powerful than it should be for a public school teacher, but there are some times that I catch myself. Here I am, announcing the winners and standings and all that, and I look to my right, and there's a couple with their 9 year old sitting to my right as I announce, "Kunt Lappers are taking up third spot, but it's still anybody's game heading into our final round..." you should've seen the looks I got.
Ah, fuck it. To quote George, "Shitpissfuckcuntcocksuckermotherfuckertits..."
Some thoughts on the rounds:
Round 1: Ack! - My Sharona is the only Knack song anyone should ever have to listen to, and only after they experience the rest of the Reality Bites Soundtrack.
Round 2: What Up, G? - Always love it when I get to play some G Love and Special Sauce.
Round 3: If Etta James Married Richard Mology... - Amazons, those are some hard core ladies, and not as beautiful as Xena would have you believe...
Round 4: If It Feels Like More Than Three Fingers... - I expected more pinkies. They always get the shaft, but the best Italian rings.
Round 5: Film-in-the-Blank - I love these deconstructed posters. There's great grindhouse-like film posters like these you can find online easily.
Round 6: Welcome to the Bungle, We’ve Got a Round on Mistakes - Bonus Question on Jethro Tull... Bitchin'!
Round 7: Roger's Interrupting Reviews - I feel so bad that reviewers with degrees in film have to actually write and talk about tripe like Pokemon: The First Movie and Baby's Day Out.
Round 8: Random Knowledge- Is it sad that I knew every single villain and their nemesis on the last question? Comic Book nerd here...
See you all next week!

Sometimes the tension's so thick in the air, you can cut it with a Chainsaw attached to your stump (Army of Darkness Reference!). Other Quiz nights, the teams are there to have a good time, and even help each other with answers.
Last night was a "help you poor bastards out" kind of night. Our three teams were more like two, with some friendly rivalry between Cam and "Back..." that ended up as more of a rivalry between just round 5 answers than anything else. The best, though, was that we had three Space Monkeys this evening. More Monkeys means more goodness...
Round 1: Dicks & Dixie - Strom Thurmond. The only man Methuselah says, "Dude, just DIE already."
Round 2: Are You Ready For Some Parodies? - Weird Al these guys weren't. If anyone was in need of the autotune, it was the guy singing the Billy Idol parody.
Round 3: Sooner or Later: Game Shows - Best thing about these rounds? The faces and reactions to the last two answers when it becomes painfully obvious...
Round 4: It All Started With a Big Bang - John Ritter. I wish I could say something positive here... Okay, at least you were replaced by David Spade. Munchkin has some damn fine snipes.
Round 5: The NFL Fall of Fame - O.J. Simpson was easy to spot. Or as I prefer to call him, Stabby McGlovefit.
Round 6: Pastor of Muppets - Any excuse to play Sesame Street songs is cool in my book. Too bad no one got up and did "The Pidgeon" with Bert's melodious singing.
Round 7: Elmo's Posse - Hootie and the Blowfish - now I can't get all of "Cracked Rear View" out of my head. Thanks.
Round 8: Random Knowledge - Eric Cantor + John Boener + Nanci Pelosi = New Three Stooges.
See you next week!

Well, after 3 weeks off for various reasons (my Hometown Tigers getting their asses handed to them in the World Series, Halloween, and just 'cuase) - we were back at the Break last night. It was great to see returning teams and some new faces who pulled a "what the hell?" and joined the festivities for the hell of it. I'd love to see you guys back.
Some notes about the rounds, and my thoughts on them...
Round 1: Stop To Smell This Round: I like me my flowers. They done smell purty and stuff. The references for each of these helped a lot of teams. I bet many of you were glad we didn't have you identify genus and shit...
Round 2: Where You Headed?: LL Cool J. Not enough questions about him. Take notes, people, Ladies do Love the Cool James.
Round 3: More, Less, or Exactly 50%? For anyone who doesn't gamble, the questions on cards and roulette could be tricky. Just glad no questions were on Baccarat. Only people in James Bond films and the Brain play that.
Round 4: Lays, Lay's, & Layoffs: Any round I get to make fun of Madonna and her creepy, harpy nature is a good round in my book.
Round 5: Mnemonotony: Heh. I remember some of these differently, as I'm sure a lot of my players did. Every Good Boy Does Fine.
Round 6: Hey Girl, It’s a Whole Round About Me, Ryan Gosling: I'm a heterosexual man. I think it is a default setting that we don't know anything about this guy outside of "Drive"...
Round 7: Six Claws Up: My players had a REAL hard time hearing and understanding this round with the din of other people in the Break... Great idea, but Velociraptors were distracting.
Round 8: Random Knowledge: Wild Things Threesome. Neve Campbell, Denise Richards, and the luckiest man in cinema in the 90's.
We're off next week for you to get your drink on in preparation for gorging the day after & giving thanks, and then the day after that, pushing old ladies down to get great deals on material crap to be thankful for next year...
Ah, AMERICA! Fuck, yeah.
