4 years!  4 years ago I started with Geeks Who Drink and for 4 years I have cultivated lasting friendships with so many people!  It’s always fun to see who will make it out for the games to enjoy the entire spectacle that Tuesday night in Downtown Grand Junction has become. 

 

For 4 years, I have been doing the same thing almost every week.  Just like most of you, I’ve given so much to this night that it’s hard for me to imagine life without it, but things are becoming increasingly more complex in my life as I get ready for a wedding, new business opportunities, and ever-changing hours with my other jobs.

 

Who knows how much longer we will be together, my friends?  How many more years will I be able to keep producing high-intensity, enjoyable quizzes for my mental minions?  What does the future hold for us?

 

These are questions I’ve never concerned myself with before, but times, they are a changin’ and you have to change with them or be left to wonder why things have become unimaginably out of your control.  As the future seems to be shrouded in uncertainty, I look towards those future shadows and I know that there must be light somewhere beyond, creating those shadows.

 

The light shined on the boys again this week as they marked up their 3rd consecutive first place finish this week.  Chris Epic brought his Epic Beauties down to the Slide for the first time and I was totally impressed with their first time scores, but Nate Channing and his buddy were the toasts of the quiz, as they came in 3rd place.  Nowadays, teams are like conferences in the NCAA- they are expanding to become super units, so at times like these, it amazes me that 2 people can do so well against the masses-

 

As you fight through the mass of people, places, and productivity during your weekly battles for existence, remember all we can ever do is keep our heads up and on a swivel.  Be watchful of those creeping shadows and do not fear them!  Many times the shrouded and secret areas of this world hold the answers to true enjoyment.

I know that some of you enjoy Gogurt- I know some of you enjoy it too much.  I know some of you like your Gogurt hard and firm and that some of you enjoy it as a creamy explosion in you mouth.  Many of you have watched as your children’s faces light up when they see you pull out your Gogurt.  It’s a shame that so few understand.  You just grasp lightly at the base and slowly work towards the tip and…Boom!  It’s inside you- doing good, healthy thing to you.  Some of you do not eat Gogurt, but would rather plow through a hot fruit pie- even cold, fruit pies are sugar drenched gooey treats that just begging to be nibbled.  Sometimes, I like to stick my finger inside first and see what kind of treasure awaits me.  Oh yes, fruit pies and Gogurt- that’s the good stuff.

Anyways- it was another full house and the patio smelled like Lil Wayne’s basement.  Like Haight Ashbury during the ‘60s, there was something rising up from the corners and alleyways.  It was the smell of freedom and short-term memory loss.  Can you smell short-term memory loss?  Fuck.  Yes.

Long-term memory, however, was on full display.   The geography and television; Woody Allen and Tom Cruise; all of it just a few brain vibrations away from you writing in or whispering the correct phrase.

Truly, it is a game of fools for the ones who have never been foolish.  Nay it is a game of wits put on by a fool who loves to fool around with knowledge and wisdom.  If that doesn’t make sense, I’ll just pull a T-Pain and blame it on the Alcohol. Congrats to the brain trust for getting back on track- It’s been a couple weeks now of first place finishes for them, so everyone needs to start brining it to them again before the fall- For some reason, they seem to do even better indoors-

We almost went a year without a tie, now we have one every week!  This week it was a battle for 2nd place and once again, it was our other 2 top performing teams.  Brooke’s brigade missed the mark by 10 dead bodies and Vera’s Villains beat the brigade with a closer guess.  A good way to end another great night-

Also, we are starting to get more regular players, so try and get here early for tables and chairs!  We ENCOURAGE people to bring their own favorite lawn chairs too!  Be comfortable and make it a party every Tuesday!

Well it happened again-

I got super drunk and three teams won cash, but this time around, there were 2 new hippies, 1 new dad, and a team of noobs that had to leave early, sighting a strong lack of brainpower.  The hippies had no idea what century it was since they were probably just getting back from Burning Man, Nicci’s dad tried t show me what time it was on his Binary watch, and the noobs of no brain decided that they better bolt before I berated them with flaming balls of knowledge. 

Danny had to help me grade because Geeks forgot to ship me a package this week, so we made it work with some server tickets and a box of pens.  Overall, it was another interesting and enjoyable Geeks for all- my head didn’t like me at 6 this morning.
