What a night we had last night, Star Bar. You definitely made my mother's day!
Those of you who were present for the reading of the rules got to hear my very own mom say "Don't FUCK with the quiz master," and "I wasn't in labor for 12 hours so that you could be an asshole to her!" My mom is badass from Jersey, so reading the rules was not only easy for her, she really enjoyed it. Thank you all for laughing and clapping in the right places.
Alright, let's talk about this quiz.
A few things were different this Sunday. For one, we had some new teams with us, and Ron (the week-to-week champion of Star Bar) was home sick which meant that first place was up for grabs, and man, you guys sure did put in a good fight for it. I think this was the highest scoring week at Star Bar--congratulations!
Round 1 was all about Kung Fu and because an answer was Kung Fu Fighting, I couldn't even use that song for my playlist--damn. We did get a perfect score on that round--because someone is a cinophile and had watched (and remembered!) Shaolin Soccer. Nice.
Round 2 was all about Island Songs and someone actually knew the artist B.o.B. When I made fun of the team for knowing the artist, they accused me of having heard of them before at my quiz--I call bullshit. You might hear that at some other quizzes, but boy band goodness (/gag) will not be heard at my quiz. Like, Ever.
Round 3 tested your knowledge about good music in a multiple choice round Beatles, Stones, or Both? You guys did pretty well on this round too! I was pleasantly surprised.
Round 4 was called Tom, Dick, and Harry which I lead into with a little Tom Sawyer (RUSH!!!!! THE BEST BAND OF ALL TIME!!!!). On question 1 about LOTR, someone answered "Lord of the Rings can Suck It," to which I responded, "I'm sorry that your literary taste only runs to Harry Potter, but read a real book."
Round 5 was all about People you know by name, but not by sight and lucky for you guys, it was multiple choice.
We hit round 6 in record time--an hour into the quiz, so after I delivered Clean yourself up, you filthy skank, we had a little contest for the shot featured in the round. I did not expect so many of you to take me up on the offer! Also, it turned out that Star Bar did not have curaco, so we made do with some other types of liquor that turned the shot blue... and I hoped that the patron didn't puke. Good news! He said it tasted good! WOO HOO!
Round 7 was Showception where you had to name the Tv Show within the TV Show. It was one of my favorite round 7's ever, and it was worth 16 points--and no one jokered it (and that's too bad, because it might have affected the outcome of the night!)
And then it was time for the infamous Dance Party! I'm not going to lie, I look forward to the end of round 7 all night so that we can all hang out and dance together. Tonight you all got down to the original version of Macarena (in Spanish and everything!) and we were all a little rusty on how to dance it.
Aaaaanywho, Round 8 was the great equalizing round (it being totally random and all).
We actually had a tie for 3rd and 2nd place was only 1 point above those folks--OUCH! However, 1st place blew you guys out of the water--way to go Mom Jorts! What an appropriate team name for Sunday!
Alright friends, if you haven't signed up for the email bonus list, you can do that here, and also like our facebook page! It's where I'll post all the pics of yourselves for the tagging and the stuff.
Thank you all again for hanging out with me on Mother's Day! Come back next week when we'll have a different competition for a different prize, and put in your suggestions for what you want as our dance party song next week!
You're all Stars to me!

Hey Star Bar!
Man, was all of Austin partying too hard last night or what? Some of you looked seriously hung over.
Tonight we did a head-to-head competition of the regulars, and then we saw some late-coming teams join in the fun when they heard how much of a good time that you were all having.
Speaking of having a good time, was I the only one who saw the girl puke on herself on the way to the bathroom? She had a hard time keeping anything in her mouth--as she kept saying answers out loud... must suck to be her boyfriend.
ZING!
You all were also privy to my first debut of a mystery round! You probably thought too hard about it though, since the mystery was just that the answers were in reverse-alphabetical order. When I pointed that out, you all looked down longingly at your answer sheets, wishing to turn them in later. TOO BAD!
Alright friends, we will still be ON for Mother's Day next week! Bring your mom if you want! I'll make her feel really loved* (Note: *if loved means harrassed).
Have a great week, thank you for being awesome as always!
Sunday Funday,
Samantha

Hey Star Bar!
Huge Shout out to Chelsea for bringing a multitude of friends with her to quiz tonight--it was one of my favorite parts ever! AND we even had cupcakes. And THEN we had a magic dance party.
With rounds like Jeff U, Glee, Reach out and touch Ass, the first half of the quiz was pretty fun for you guys. We also saw a topple of an epic Jenga tower--although it was saved illegally from a toppel earlier in the evening.
You all ate cupcakes and gathered round a huge table for the next half of the quiz. It was amazing quizzer comraderie! It made me feel better for chasing the hula hoopers inside (they were doing amazing acrobatic hula hoop tricks before you got there--which is why you should always arrive early).
The second half of the quiz included topics like This round Brought to you by the Number 5, The visual round on hitmen from TV, video games and films, a round on hot beverages, and Band Name Spelling Bee. I've never heard teams debate the poor spellings of bands like Limp Bizkit, Def Leppard, and Salt-N-Pepa before. It sounded heated at the Thanksgiving table.
Then.. we had the dance party:

All in all, you all did admirably with Ron pullint out for the win with ease, and Derek, Matt and James taking second.
Awesome work you all and I'll see you next week!
Sunday Funday,
Samantha
