Jeffrey, a graduate of Theater Arts from San Jose State University, moved from Los Angeles to Boise. In Los Angeles, Jeff performed Stand-up comedy at all the major clubs including The Improv chain and Ha-Ha Cafe. He moved to Boise just two weeks after the local comedy club closed. Looking for a performance outlet, and because he was driving his family insane, he signed up for Geek Who Drink. Jeff is a movie geek who is always quoting lines, which also drives his family insane. Jeff is always ready with a bad impersonation and a funny story.

Hey Party People,

Another stellar quiz last night at Piper Pub. The place was packed when I walked in and was packed when I left. Never a dull moment as we had a birthday in the house and an audition for quizmaster. Too much stuff going on so here are the highlights.

1. One lady on Team Evil Sin Kid yelled out loud that their team was going to win. I had to disagree with her as there was 14 people at the table. You may finish first but you'd be DQ'ed by this quizmaster. To bad you didn't stay till the end to prove me right.

2. Only one person was allowed to come up for the first free beer question of the night. It was Claudia. The question was, "Whose birthday is it today?" I was looking for the simple answer "MIne" but she decided to write down her full name. Being Mexican it took awhile. This lead to a loud and embarrassing rendition of the Happy Birthday Song.

3. My free beer token is not cool but creepy, I've been told. You be the judge. (SEE PIC)

4. Our Quizzers need to spend some more time at The Balcony (INSERT TECHNO MUSIC HERE) in order to answer our music round entitled Dance your ass off

5. Yes, the round 4 theme Ram It does belong at the other location with the house team of the same name.

6. You guys know the ingredients for crack cocaine and even though it's a wrong answer Bleach mixed with Ammonia does make poison and death.

7. Truman did a great job with round 3 where your answers where either hearts, spades or diamonds. Mad props to the two teams that answered clubs for question number seven. Good job Truman and thanks to the quizzers for being so supportive of the fresh meat.

8. Apparently, Chucky from the Child Play movies is a Man Of Action and was advertising Levis Jeans.

9. There is no horn in my hand. I make all sounds with my mouth or my nose or maybe I just blow it out my (HORN NOISE HERE)

10. Yes, Megan would have said the C-word.

 At the end of the long night, Taco Party XL took home first place with Buffalo Concept finishing in second. We had a tie for 3rd place which lead to a Punch Off. Teams Space Eagles and Shmoo had to write a punch-line from their favorite joke. Here are their submissions

So, Space Eagles won by audience vote and took home my one dollar and two Avengers lotto tickets. In a strange twist of fate, I had two extra scratchers and let Space Eagles pick form the two sets. They chose two losers. I gave the other two to the birthday team and Shmoo won 10 dollars. So, third place won $1 and 4th place won $10. That's three winning tickets, since I switched to the Avengers.  More money to come?

Megan will be back soon and she says she misses you crazy guys. I'll see you next week or later

Well looky here, it's Quizmaster Megan telling us a little bit about herself. How precious.

Yep! That's what I am doing: Hi. I am Megan and I am a life-a-holic. I pretty much spend my time finding new and delightful things to cram into my busy, overachieving schedule. Thus, I have added Wednesday night Quizzery to my resume. I am in a Boise based improv comedy troupe that I co-founded called Chicks n' Giggles. I also do stand-up comedy and have been hitting up comedy clubs from San Diego to NYC during the last few months. As far as you know I am the funniest little Idahoan you will ever meet. Just go with it! I love rollercoasters, my family, and drinking gravy.

I could go on for paragraph after paragraph about all my little quirks and fantasies, but why not just make it a point to come hang out with me and the biggest Geeks in Boise every Wednesday night and EXPERIENCE it. We'll have fun. I'm sure of it. Well, I'm pretty sure of it. If you are a meany or hate life there is only so much I can do to help. Help me help you. See you at the Piper.

I'm happy to report that moving Geeks has not affected the quantity, NOR the quality of my Geeks. We held strong at 9 teams tonight and the energy was more magnificent that shot-gunning a couple'a Red Bulls. 

Tonight we had several teams with players from our local technology powerhouse, Micron, and despite the fact that I caught their boss making out with his wife they powered through the night and team Shmoo took home the big win. Bragging rights in the office tomorrow, indeed. Better luck next week Team We Didn't Get Drafted Either. 

We packed the night full of Dubstep in honor of round 7, which proved to be more challenging for the players than past audio rounds, and, in fact, prompted one team to beg for the return of the dreaded harps. Personally, I plan on putting the Spongebob remix into my ring tone options. 

I was a very proud QM to find out that not just a couple, but MANY of them had read last week's blog and came prepared to reveal the password for a delightful treat. Laffy Taffy sticks for everyone who new the password. I'm totally going to do things like this more often.

Big thanks to the Thursday night crew at the Pub. They were ready for action and welcomed the night of geekiness with loving, wanting arms. 

We have a new Facebook page for the Boise area for Geeks Who Drink, so if you haven't already, LIKE IT. 

And finally, a shout out goes to 2 full teams of teachers who were in town for a conference. Team North Idaho Babes and A for P were a load of fun and we are glad they hung around to prove whether or not Idaho public schooling can compete with the minds of our Geek writers.

Nothing like playing the game of beating the clock to post a blog after waking up frickin’ early to catch a flight. They say busy is good, but so is sleeping.

The quiz was interesting last night. My quizzers asked for a record amount of repeats on multiple rounds. Challenging night for sure, as the scores will dictate. And it was our last night for Wed quiz. Next week we move to Thursdays! Boise goes alive after five throughout summer, and pushes the beloved Geeks back a day, but I am confident we’ll remain strong.

The return of the Say When round…For the several brand new teams, one of which came in during that round, it was a little struggle convincing them that actual questions would be asked if they stuck around.

My regulars, AA took home the win, and the email bonus and they were elated, since they may have to go into hiatus for the new Thursday quiz night. Second place, team Shmoooooo, is back! After a multi-week struggle to regain domination during a winning streak a while back they were able to pull it off and they were quite delighted.

Glad to see the momentum continue to roll with so many of our other regulars. Team Thunder Skunt put up a good fight after a late-ish start as well. Our new teams seemed to be pretty entertained by the quiz, but they were out of towners, so I encouraged them to look up their local quiz, then de-pants the QM courtesy of ME.

I took a little poll from a couple teams last night about who might actually read this blog, and the numbers were dismal. So as incentive. Any quizzer who comes to next week’s quiz, on THURSDAY May 3rd, will get a special prize if they can tell me the code word. And the code word is……..”vagina”.
