It was a busy night at the Drop as nine teams duked it out last night. But it was longtime contenders Foodies for Thought who finally had their victory, edging out regulars Midnight Society and Night Cheese. Also in the mix were Eddies’ bar team Duane Clever Pig, the two player operation Heads Will Explode and returning challengers Us R Kool.
Last night’s rounds were generally popular. We made the decision to book the hideously awful band Apologetix to some future event. The Balderdash round went well, and we were all delighted to hear the dulcet tones of Ken Jennings reading us round 6.
It was a rockin’ night, and next week will be as well. Beads?

The Midnight Society won last night. Oh it was close. Only a two point victory over the fairly regular team who this time called themselves Hair Down, Glasses Off. Clocking in third was Foodies for Thought. This was the second week in a row that the Foodies took home the hypothetical bronze! Eddie’s bar team, called No Holds Bar, clocked in fourth, but it was really a pretty tight set of standings.
Our first round, of the mysterious variety, turned out to be Shakespeare themed. Everybody did pretty well at it. Then came the second round, the audio round containing “X-Treme Covers”. While most found it pretty hard, the participant were intrigued enough that I was asked for the cover playlist more than once. I’ll get back to you on that, guys. I’m thinking about Shazaming it, but am afraid it may break the glass on my phone.
Round 3… yeah. So that was my screw up. I read it wrong. For the first time in the lifespan of this quiz, we had a re-do. But hey, nothing wrong with taking a few practice swings, huh?
I dunno. It was fun. We had a dubstep round. The visual round was crazy easy (literally all the teams aced it)!
C’mon back next week and let’s do it again.

A more intimate setting was enjoyed by the typical Wednesday night reprobates at the Drop last night. It was a slow night, as only three teams truly played. But they were the three most storied teams of all time for the quiz: the always dangerous Midnight Society, Eddie’s customary “bar team” who this week called themselves Rhythm Method Progeny, AKA The Crane Kids, and an abridged version of the beloved Foodies for Thought.
Round 1 was a pretty straight forward affair concerning the number two. Everyone had a pretty easy time, although the Midnight Society tried to say that “Two Great Tastes That Taste Great Together” was the 70’s slogan for Reece’s Pieces, a choice that would haunt them later.
In Round 3, we played a Say When about Sci-Fi movies, and both Midnight Society and Rhythm Method Progeny found themselves unable to resist the temptation to call stop early, leading to some one-clue questions, and a negative pointer for each of them. Although interestingly, both of the questions that resulted in docked points for these powerhouse teams were answered correctly by Foodies!
At this point another team who’d been playing out on the patio, Corndog, took their leave. They’d been celebrating a birthday, and left half their cake to all of us!
Later we had a NFL Draft Before and After that turned out to be a lot of fun, and a pretty tough Harold and Kumar themed audio round.
Ultimately, Rhythm Method Progeny won the whole damned thing, by one point, much to the Society’s anguish. As is customary, RMP relinquished their first place prize to their second place rivals, which then meant the second place prize went to Foodies for Thought, their first giftcard (I believe).
Oh, and we watched the Royals finally snap their 12 game losing streak. KC pride.
See y’all next week, where I’m sure we’ll have more company.
