All the songs in round 2 really had heart!  XD  I’m feeling goofy and a little light headed tonight and it has nothing to do with being inebriated.  Something happened about five o’clock today and I just got so chill.  My world was moving extra slow as I did the quiz tonight and I feel like that mood washed over the bar through my microphone.  You guys were so laid back and having a nice, level quiz was the perfect way to end a Wednesday and get us that much closer to a three day weekend. 

We had a half full bar tonight; few teams, but many people and I like that just as much.  Our first few rounds proved to be a bit demoralizing though, as the end of round 3 had two of our three teams still in single digit scores.  I won't lie, I get the biggest kick out of that shit. When I do these quizzes at home by myself, I sometimes look at my score at the end and, knowing it's 20 to 30 points below average scores,  can get a little bummed.  I know I suck butt at geography but I think of myself as an all-around kind of guy and low scores hurt the ol' moral.  But you guys did terrible too!  Hurray!  As you can see from the score sheet it did pick up towards the end, but they were still significantly lower than usual. 

And as for that damn koala, it goes:

Apparently the word 'marsupial' didn't even make it into the process.  Not sure how that works but after one of my more humorous mispeaks/fuck ups, I can confirm for you that the Koala is, indeed, a mammal.  Not that you probably needed it.  XD

Lady Parts wins!  Handily!  There were some pretty low scores after round 3 but Lady Parts was already way ahead, relatively speaking.  Fistfull of Assholes were struggling pretty badly as well until they got some help from a very pretty lady (see picture to the left, the one clearly containing a fistful of assholes and a very pretty lady).  They finished second for the night, just in front of the ironically name Time for a Comeback!  Casey's grand return to the bar tonight also included his wife and mother-in-law, but all of that knowledge and wisdom weren't enough to propel him to anything more epic than his well-worn last place position.  It was looking good for a while too, however, he/they did score significantly higher than they ever have.  Maybe we're trending in the right direction.

I hope that you guys have a fantastic week, that we get to do this again in just under 7 days, and that the whole of Waco tries to squeeze into the upper room at Treff's Bar and Grill next Wednesday at 8 o'clock.

Tonight was a very difficult quiz but you guys powered through and all was good.  Such a nail biter too at the end.  Lots of people that I haven't seen in quite a while, and a couple that I haven't seen before, so that was cool!  Starting the night off with a 'Duh' round is always fun and a good way to get the ball rolling on bad answers for collective mocking.  Unless it's a particularly egregious error or I'm very familiar with the fuck-up-in-question, I will never call out a team or person by name.  I'll be damned though if nearly every time I point out that answer that was so wrong that even nice people laugh, if that team or person doesn't hop up to defend themselves.  The whole point of having a lot of people at the bar is hiding in anonymity; don't ruin it by tattling on yourself.  That being said, being able to put a face to the answer 'mythical Hitler' s pretty nice.

Best round tonight, by far, was the Subreddit real or shit round. I poke around on Reddit very rarely, just because it's kind of a terrifying place, but when I read this round tonight I actually went and checked some of these groups.  The Gentleman Boners is just what you'd expect: a lot of ladies at award shows and movie premieres in their fancy stuffs.  Earth Porn was a bit cooler as it was just incredible pictures of incredible scenery in the wide world.  Ask a Shitty Doctor was actually slightly better advice than I expected to find and I ended up reading there for a while.  All of this got me to wondering what other weird stuff was in the Subreddit-sphere and this is what I came across in my never ending quest to present you with interesting things: WtSSTaDaMiT.  <-- That is, apparently, a thing; google it.

So, a game was played and points were had and here's a quick recap.  After round 3, first and second place were locked by Three Quizmasters...I Mean Two Quizmasters Walk Into a Bar. Fuck Them! and The Cock Rocking Kings of Tampa respectively.  Both showed some spectacular joker prudence on round two and both played strong to the end, with Three Quizmasters playing slightly stronger.  My Dad Banged His Mom (Twice) (a pair of brothers, in case you didn't catch the joke) and Havin' Fun both saved their joker for round eight and ended in a lovely tie.  Usually we have a dance off for such things, but both teams were populated only by manly men and an arm wrestling contest seemed to be the best bet.  Hats were turned backwards and gazes were locked in as The Buzzcocks serenaded the bar.  After the dust had cleared, Brian of My Dad arose victorious with a smile and a mustache that any fire fighter or old timey strong man would be envious of.  They grabbed 3rd place, a confusing 5 dollars towards their tab and dropped Havin Fun' into the first of the 'ranked out' spots.  Finally, the lovely ladies of Mixed Results made it back this evening and held 3rd all the way up until round eight, where they were promptly deposed and forgotten in last place.

What a nice way to start the summer, guys.  Lots of quizzers, no tornadoes, plenty to drink and no douchebags.  Two week streak?  I think so.  See you guys in 6 and a half days.

After just one question about Robert Paulson, I could write an entire blog about Fight Club, but I'll restrain myself.  We had so many other fun things that happened tonight that I would be remiss simply rehashing my love for a movie that showcases man's need for violence and the sweet release that comes from giving in to that base instinct.  We had a new bartenderette (bartenderess?) tonight and she played along with the quiz from her spot behind the big counter, so thanks to AJ and we hope you have many more enjoyable nights with us. 

So compared to last week where, among other things, we had an entire round on butt sex, tonight was super tame in the round theme category.  Captain Planet, news websites, various types of united states; I almost would have been comfortable having my parents at the bar.  Almost.

Well we only had two teams again tonight, but I happened to know every single person on each team and they were all pretty darned pleasant.  The downside was the absolutely abysmal scores.  Familiarity doesn't necessarily mean that the quiz is any easier, and even if the rounds were something that mom and grandma could have gotten behind, that didn't really seem to help.  Fuck other countries, the music round, the news, and history, we still had a good time.  I'm Here, Where Are You? saved their joker for round 8 and eked out in front of Smell? by a single point.  I was really looking forward to a dance off, but oh well.

We'll be here next week to do a quiz and I promise, whether we have 3 people show up or 30, to make sure that you have a good time.
