8 teams! Where have you been all my life? And we had a team with something like 382 people on it. See, a couple folks are leaving this amazing city for other, less amazing cities and they decided to have a going away party at our quiz. I apologize for the fact that I may, very well, be your last memory of Austin.

And speaking of memories we'd all like to forget...ha ha to the team who put Mark McGrath as one of the top 10 MLB hitters in history. Shut the door baby, don't say a word about how you meant to put Mark McGwire. Funniest wrong answer of the night.

Until round 8 were two teams thought Whoopi Goldberg starred in the Billie Holiday biopic, Lady Sings The Blues. Look, I don't mind if you cheat off your friends' papers. Just make sure you have friends who know the right answers.

We also had a round on current events, got cold with our ice/berg round and learned that we have been cheating ourselves out of points in Scrabble for years now.

And at the end of 8 rounds, Upper Decks regulars Two Guys, A Roofie and TBA walked away with the 2nd place prize and newcomers, Poop Spelled Backwards is Poop emerged victorious taking the top spot.

Seriously. A question about the Mets AND manischewitz?? You like me. You really like me, quiz gods!

So many returning teams. My heart was filled with joy. And Iced Tea. No really. The waitress at Upper Decks just knows to have a glass of tea on the table before I get there, like its in my rider. I wonder if I could get her to leave some M&Ms too. But just the green ones.

So, 5 teams. And, come to think of it, all of them were returning, or had some connection to a returning team as one returning player (and geek bowl participant) brought like 10 of her friends. And they split into 2 groups. Friend against friend. Brother against brother. I look forward to the Ken Burns documentary about it.

We had rounds on palindromes. An international audio round and a sooner or later round on US sports teams. And one team, Our Team of 4 will beat your team of 5, got a perfect 16 and jokered it and they never looked back. They dominated all night long and finished first, 11 points ahead of our 2nd place team and defending champs, I Circled the Joker Once...Just Once

Also, I never saw The NoteBook, but I probably would have if Kanye West was in it.

See you all next week at 7. And speaking of 7, Ive decided that anytime we have 7 or more teams, I'll be giving away an award for best team name and one other prize of my choosing. So tell your friends, tell your friends friends and then beat them with your nerd prowess.

Everyone's a Little Bit Racist, Even When They Don't Mean To Be

I have so much white guilt, ya'll. And hell, I'm half Jew and Half Mexican so I'm all sort of prosocuted people. But the more I praised "black people's inventions", the more I felt like someone should enroll me in some sensitivity training. Maybe it's not WHITE guilt I feel but just GUILT in general. Again. Jew and (very catholic) Mexican families create some hella neurotic kids. I'm proof.

But enough of the things I should save for my therapist--QUIZ! First, every team got a perfect score on round 5. First time for me. You bitches be smart.

We also learned about regional cuisine. And the Primanti Brothers sandwiches. Which have (as we learned) fries on them and cole slaw (which I mentioned to you). And if you try to order the sandwich with no fries or cole slaw, they will cut you. Because, you know, Philadelphia. It is on my food bucket list, which is perfect because it will probably be the thing I eat that finally kills me (plus gravy.)

Also, Isaac Asimov is a very different person from Isaac Newton.

And getting to say "Double - A...HONK HONK" is the 2nd best thing I ever have said at a quiz, right after getting to do the "ITS BACON!!" tagline from those Beggin' Strips dog treats.

Nothing Comes To Mind dominated all night and took the first place prize with A Chick and a Dude winning 2nd, just one point above the 3rd place team.
