Helloooo, everybodaaaaay!
Here’s hoping you enjoyed another raucous evening of quiz with us here at Weirdo’s! After a week out of the money, stalwart quizzers We Ate the Dingo That Ate Your Baby announced their presence with authority by pulling out their third win in four weeks. The Dingoes narrowly edged last week’s champions, 2 Girls, a Guy and Another 1st Place, who almost lived up to their name. The old saying goes it’s easier to forget a 40 point loss than a one point one, but I hope you guys don’t lose any sleep over this… just know that you all did fantastic… and destroyed the rest of the bar.
If this were NASCAR, you kids would have lapped everyone else. I think the bar is starting a petition to force you to sit out round one from now on! I keed… I keed! It’s always so great to have such a wonderful crew quizzing with us on Tuesdays, and you guys make me look forward to the next one just as soon as we’re done!
Sure, there weren’t four Josh Hamilton home runs to distract us tonight, but at least we got to enjoy some great basketball along with all of the quizzing! Remember, Weirdo’s features free movies on their huge outdoor screen at sunset on Wednesdays, and all of your favorite sports on 20+ flat screens all the time!

Like all little children, I was once gifted with a copy of Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. Along with Goodnight Moon, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Curious George, these books will always have a place of great affection in my heart. It was as I was driving to quiz this evening that I heard of Mr. Sendak’s passing… so what better way to honor him than to announce the wild rumpus of quiz!!! With a good number of our Tuesday regulars known for being school teachers, I thought you might enjoy that.
Now it’s just a matter of time before the obligatory Wilds, Wild Things and Where the Wild Things Are round gets pooped out for us to mull over. Prepare yourselves!
For a normal quiz (i.e. only two 16 point rounds), your scores were out of this world tonight! Considering SEVENTY POINTS was only good for fifth place, you all proved who had the biggest brains in Austin. Take a bow, my quizzers!
Coming off a water-logged second place finish last night at North by Northwest, Chelsea II and her team I Survived DEATH STORM at NXNW took home a well earned victory by putting up a whopping 81 points. And she even told me they left some points on the board, so it could have been even more of a butt thumping! Second place went to Jenny and her Sendak-centric team Where the Wild Things Were =(, who fell only four points short of victory. That left perennial also-rans Louder, Ron! to agonize for the week, finishing only one point out of the money. Also noteworthy, our two-time defending champs We Ate the Dingo that Ate Your Baby finished out of the money in fourth place.
It was a near record crowd at Weirdo’s tonight, and I’m so glad to see all of you come out and enjoy the quiz! Here’s hoping we see you all back next week!

It’s blog time! Quizzlings assemble!
I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making this one of the most fun Weirdo’s quizzes I’ve had the pleasure of hosting in a very long time! Heck, a fight didn’t even break out!
Without spilling all my dirty laundry on the floor for everyone to see, you guys gave me a huge pick me up on a night when I really needed it. If I could, I’d give you all prizes!
Our champions (two weeks running now) are the quiz tour de force known as We Ate the Dingo That Ate Your Baby… tremble at their quiz prowess. And their delicious sealed in baby/dingo flavor profile! And second place this evening went to Thank God We’re Not Drag Queens, who held the lead until round eight thanks to a stellar performance in the audio round. You guys know your phone songs… your random knowledge, not so much. Hot on their tails were three of our most loyal regulars, Thunder Thighs Are On the Move, Thunder Thighs Are Loose, The Cunning Stunts and I’m So Good at Lightning Rounds! On this night good just wasn’t good enough. But I was quite impressed with your knowledge of E.T. characters!
Now I don’t know if impressed is the right word, but when The A-Holes elected to use their speed round to write the names of exclusive schools like UTSA, Austin Community College, Texas State, Texas A&M and Oklahoma, they had to know they were flushing eight points down the toilet. I will say that I admire your commitment to a joke!
We also hit you with a surprisingly Shawshank-free Morgan Freeman movies round… the highlight of which had to be him saying motherfucker like he’s Samuel L. Jackson. Maybe I SHOULD watch Wanted after all.
