I hate when I’m in such a hurry, I forget things. For instance, I forgot to bring my laptop to our quiz last night. Sure I’m a geek and made do with what I had available to me but the point it, I’m forgetful. Oh and extremely busy. Like all the time. I think I need a vacation.
So it turns out my Android phone has all the tools required to do my job. I copied my quiz questions over to my cellphone and was able to detach myself from my “table”. Oh and thank God I had plenty of good music to play between rounds. Not that it required much considering the bar owners made me cut the quiz short. I had to drop rounds 7 and 8… and since Fedex Office had issues with the characters chosen for the visual round and refused to print it for me, I had to drop 5 as well. As you could imagine, that made for a very low-scoring game.
Our winning team this week was Biker Dykes. Yes, these are the same Biker Dykes that won last week. NO, I don’t know if they are actually dykes or not. They “blew” everyone out of the water scoring 39 points total; Intelligent group of folks, those Biker Dykes. They even got a bonus question correct.
Next up in 2nd place with 32 points, newcomer Team Jacob exceeded our expectations and took home the $15 Cellar Cash. He is also the only team to answer the Email Bonus question and won his choice of novelty item. Don’t forget to sign up for the mailing list to receive the bonus question (and hints to round themes for next week) and possibly win a prize if correct. Then again, how hard do you really think it is? I mean, you can look the damn answer up on the internet.
Before I wrap this up, let’s give it up for Raymond K. Hessel. They took home 3rd place this week and are becoming somewhat of a regular to our weekly quiz. I just hope next time they get to use the Joker on round 8 like they had hoped to originally do. I really hate that the bar has to butcher my quiz to make room for country dancing. I didn’t see much country dancing actually going on, either. Either way, I hope next week we can do the entire quiz and not have to cut it short. Hell last week Raymond K. Hessel would have taken home 1st or 2nd had they been able to stay to the end. At least they came back to try again. That’s all I really could ask for.
Well forks, there you have it. I could write more, but it would be entirely unrelated to the quiz… and I’m sure you could care less. Especially since you are at the geekswhodrink.com website; you’re obviously here to read about the quiz. Well here you go… Come out every Tuesday @ 7:30 at The Cellar for Geeks who Drink. See you then!

I think from now on I’m going to write my blog in Microsoft Word before I enter it into the Geeks who Drink Blogosphere. I’ve been working in IT for the past 10 years so you would think I would be pretty used to saving copies of my work while I’m working on them. Well, I’m not. FML! As the title of this week’s blog suggests, I lost the entire blog article I wrote… including the witty headline I had come up with. I could have used the same headline, but since I wrote an entirely new/different blog, it wouldn’t have made much sense.
This week we had to start the quiz and entire hour late. The Cellar was packed when I walked in and management was unable to provide me with adequate power to set up my equipment. Granted I’m usually late starting the quiz myself, but when it’s delayed and starting it is out of your hands, I feel as though I personally let my teams down. That being said, Raymond K. Hessel, were sorry you had to leave before the quiz was over. As for your score, you scored more points than any other team before you had to leave. You might have won had you stayed but we were still glad to see you.
3rd place this week goes to Initech. This was Initech’s first week doing the quiz here at The Cellar. They didn’t seem to think they were doing very well the entire quiz, but low and behold, they were. They were 1 point away from taking 2nd…
2nd was awarded to Pie Cubed. Pie Cubed was a combination of Pie Squared and AKIM from weeks before. They came specifically for the quiz and it showed in their answers. I was happy to see 2 different teams from week’s prior joining forces. That’s what Geeks who Drink is all about. Drinking together and having fun.
Let me not forget about 1st place. Biker Dykes came for their first quiz ever last night. I got to talk to the team before hand and they were completely excited about participating. They came specifically for the quiz as well. Check out the scores if you want to know who scored what.
I hope this blog entry was informative. Since I’m still kind of pissed about my original blog being deleted, I didn’t write much. I just covered the bases. If you want to complain about it, why don’t you get your ass to The Cellar @ every Tuesday @ 7:30pm. OK, I really don’t want you complaining, but I still want you to come on out. I know you will have a great time.
