It was a dark and windy night of quiz at Ye Olde Fat Squirrel. Full of drink and japes! Ok, so can you tell I’ve been reading Game of Thrones all weekend? Yeah, I got sick and had to stay home and just read a ton (boo hoo) and man! Those books are so good. I’m about half way through the last one and I just want to be reading it ALL THE TIME! Like right now, I wish I was reading it! But I’m not. I have to write this blog.

So ANYWAY! Hey if you like Game of Thrones as much as me, check out the: Fire Cannot Kill a Quizmaster: All Game of Thrones quiz on June 8^th! It’s a Saturday and I will be hosting it! Tiffany will be your scoremaster and it’s gonna just be so great. We’re gonna dress up and EVERYTHING! So yeah, this is a Pay-to-Play quiz, but the prize is CASH MONIES! That’s right. You read that correctly. Dolla dolla bills ya’ll.

Yeah! So quiz! We had such a fun night! With such great rounds as MYSTERY Round which ended up ultimately hinting to wrestling. Oh professional wrestling…..you are just so weird. Moving on from that we had one of my favorite music rounds EVAR. It was so great what with Amy Whinehouse, Lily Allen, Gary Glitter and Boy George! So good! We followed up that goodness with a great round on movies where people die in interesting ways. This was also an amazing round! I love the Princess Bride! And who doesn’t like Clue and I mean, come on. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Seriously.

Anyway, after that we had a round on famous journeys and then hot babes comprised our visual round. Woo! That was a pretty easy round I must say. I mean, HOT BABES people!

Round 6 was all about Brazil, Russia, India and China. Did you know there are a Gazillion Brazillians!? I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today! (ß that’s a joke for Tiffany. Ok? Just deal with it.)

And then our second audio round was so great and had us all reminiscing about the 90’s. Remember Tales from the Crypt? My So-Called Life? Ren and Stimpy?! How could anyone forget? So good. Good times ya know. I remember in middle school my friend dyed and cut her hair exactly like Angela Chase. She wore flannel shirt and Doc Martens with dresses. Those were the days. Ahhhhh.

Following that glorious look back in time we had some Random Knowledge to finish out the night. By this point my voice was kinda going since I’m still recovering from my illness. But we made it through and team Fozzie Bear is the Dave Coulier of Muppets came out triumphantly in first place. Shake ‘N’ Bake arrived in Second. You're not ADHD, you're just an asshole finished it out in third! Good job guys!

Well hullo there! Welcome to another weekly installment of Geeks Who Drink at the Fat Squirrel: Monday night edition.

We enjoyed some great quiz goodtimes and thoughtful questions followed by answers and then more questions. There were winners, and not so much winners and also new food on the menu! Healthy food! We got FRUIT BOWLS! delicious, though I'm not a huge fan of melon. I think it's really just a filler and kind of a cop out of a fruit. I mean, in a fruit bowl that is. By itself, and fresh, I have been known to enjoy a nice cantelope from time to time. But honeydew? Meh. Throw in a banana! They're decently priced and delicious. Or how about an orange? Apple? I'm a fan of those items so much more than melon.

ANYWAY. Enough about my fruit tangent. Where were we? Oh right! Quiz!

So here are a few items of note from tonight (in no particular order):

Narnia won the bonus email question. (last week I got her name wrong, so I didn't want to stop there! also, I got permission to call her Narnia. So that's cool)

David Copperfield did not magically walk through Compton in 1984. Though that is hilarious.

I am not the ancient Mesopotamian goddess of sex, but thank you?

Normal folk cannot just sign up to be in Champion Week of Jeopardy.

Dr. Pepper did indeed come before Coca Cola; by one year. Look it up. There were lawsuits and everything.

We had a tie for third place which called for a tie-breaker question: What was the estimated population in 2011 for Asia? It was a super close one.

One team said 4,634,426,392 with the other team saying 3.78 billion (actual answer: 4,140,336,501). 3.78 billion is apparently closer. I dunno, my calculator doesn't count that high.

Anyhoo, Ohio is for Imprisoned Lovers ended up in third place (after much arguing with me I MIGHT ADD!) Next time I may just give it to the team who doesn't ARGUE with me! The quiz is fixed!

Psychic Giraffe wound up in second, and

I don't think I've ever seen Alex Mack's "Secret World" finished out the night triumphantly in first (also winning the creepiest team name).

Main quiz points tonight:

3. Though pooping IS a bodily function that involves pushing, you generally don't give people presents for it (unless you have a weird potty training regime with your kids apparently?). Push presents are a gift for giving birth. (Isn't that a baby shower? Aren't the kids gift enough*? SO MANY QUESTIONS!)

4. Pineapple Upsidedown martinis are delicious!

5. If you didn't like round 7, you should have heard the original....Theme: Porn for Blind people. Yeah. You're welcome!
