I guess it’s a sign of the times that the whole Kevin Clash scandal just happened last week... and it all seems old already, in spite of the fact that there were some new developments just today. Not your fault, guys. Just a product of America’s collective ADD, I suppose. SQUIRREL! But you have to admit, when three out of the (original) seven teams come in with Elmo-themed team names, it’s difficult to pick the best one, so I went with something completely different for the team name bonus point. Something that didn’t even make very much sense but I picked it simply because it sounded funny to me. This is the risk you guys run with wracking your brains for a good team name. It truly is a crap shoot with me because, among other reasons, I’m easily distrac... ooooo... shiny...

Let’s put the pedal to the metal on this recap!

Round 1: Zero to 60 in Eight Questions – Reppin’ the ‘Bu, yo.

Round 2: It’s a Circle, Jerks – I heard a lot of “ew’s” when I announced the title of this round. Wrong round. That’s later. Ha ha! And the whole “God Herself” thing, in case you didn’t catch it, was a reference to “Dogma,” guys. Forgive me for being a Kevin Smith fan.

Round 3: America’s Jock Meat – You guys may not be fans of the Florida teams... but you all know them pretty damn well!

Round 4: Ew! – See? Told ya. And, say what you will, but I’ll admit I had a major thing for Miss Kilcher back in the day, snaggletooth and all. I mean, as reformed Mormon Alaskan van-dwellers went, she was pretty damn sexy. Still is. Just sayin’.

Round 5: It Belongs in a Museum! – TELL ‘em, Indy!!! I may not be able to pronounce them... but they do indeed belong in a museum!

Round 6: The Mysteries of Chessboxing – “WHERE’S THE WU-TANG QUESTION?!?” Patience is a virtue, kids.

Round 7: Role Call – Ah, “Reservoir Dogs.” I can’t think of another movie that made that gay slur funnier.

Round 8: Random Knowledge – Just because I spell some doesn’t mean I’ll spell ‘em all... ;) BTW, scores in this round were pretty dismal. However, I appreciated Team We Need a Team Name’s enthusiasm upon writing down the wrong answer for Q5. Instead of “Stevie Wonder” and “Aretha Franklin,” they wrote down “Jay-Z & Beyonce HOVA,” and a diamond-shaped symbol that I can only assume is supposed to represent his signature hand gesture. Well played...

Winners’ Circle – Eight teams in attendance on this pre-Thanksgiving Tuesday! Great turn-out and a highly competitive night! I mean, as I was introducing the quiz, I looked up and saw two quizzers squaring off like Victorian-era boxers. Or something. But the shuffling around of rankings throughout the night (plus the accompanying cheers and jeers) made for a very entertaining evening, at least for me. Furthermore, no ties! So here are your winners...

Third place: Team Ball Me Maybe – Yeah, the Carly Rae Jepsen song could probably be considered “old” at this point but I still thought this was funny. BTW, not too bad for a team of two!

It's Easy to Do a Bill Clinton Impression with a Sore Throat...

Over time, we’ve learned that I’m not very good at impressions, of the famous or otherwise. Funny thing about me is that it doesn’t stop me from trying, sometimes to the chagrin of those around me. However, I feel like my Bill Clinton in general is pretty good and, when you’ve been sick like I have, coughing a lot, it’s even better. That and the thumb point. That’s what sells it. At the very least Dr. JBoobs seemed to enjoy it, so much so that she asked for more Clinton even after I had signed off. Since she had done some serious ass-shakin’ for the 3rd place dance-off (oh, yeah... we had a dance-off. Video will be up soon!), I felt obligated. You’re welcome, Doc.

What a night at quiz! A great crowd on hand, in number and overall! Let’s go over what we learned...

Round 1: Recently in Stuff – I think Bieber and Petraeus would make such a cute couple...

Round 2: Growing Up Is a Bitch – I don’t know how Janet’s “Control” sounds like Barney’s “I Love You,” Team Liquor in the Front, Poker in the Rear, but come up with a better team name. ;)

Round 3: FBI or CIA? – I hear Acoustic Kitty is playing Coachella next year. They’re great.

Round 4: Waco: Celebrating 19 Years with No Zealot-Burnings! – Heh heh heh... “Jennifer Love Huge-Tits...” Oh, and hey, Team Michael J. Fox...? “Real McCoy” is a German Eurodance group from the 90’s.

Round 5: When Everyone is Nickelback – Look, just let him and Avril Lavigne have each other and they can just stay over there in Canadialand.

Round 6: Hardy Har Harding: Let’s Laugh at Presidents! – Team Geeks Who Stink claimed that the presidential sitcom by the “South Park” boys was called “Bush’s Who Drink.” I believe that’s what you call redundant. FRESHIE!!!

Round 7: Listen Carefully: You Can’t Handle Listening Carefully – Two teams were unusually preoccupied with penis in this round, as evidenced by one of the pictures in this week’s gallery. Trust me, you’ll know it when you see it.

Round 8: Random Knowledge – Look it’s not my fault you were coming up with just about every other behavior that a peregrine falcon exhibits except the one that mattered.

Winners’ Circle – Well, this hadn’t happened in a while; we had a tie for 3rd place and an ensuing dance-off! Kelly repping Team Liquor in the Front, Poker in the Rear went up against Jen, a.k.a. Dr. JBoobs, of Team We’ll Huff, We’ll Puff, We’ll Do Blow ‘Til Your House Falls Down and they shook their maracas something fierce! I’ll have that video up soon, as I promised. In the end, with an overwhelming decision by the crowd, we had our three winners, and here they are...

Third place: Team We’ll Huff, We’ll Puff, etc... – I think it was the Charlie Brown that sealed the deal for you, Doc. :D

Maybe it was a case of reverse psychology... or maybe they’re just straight up liars! Normally, I save the winners until the end of the blog, but I’m going to break from tradition a little bit this week because of the egregiousness of the act. You tell me if the ire is justified. Team Always Comes in Second... that name. It’s just a bald-faced lie! Why? They took the lead from the beginning, held on to it and ended up winning! How dare they! I almost felt compelled to withhold their prize at the end of the night because of their deceit, deception and dishonesty. In the end, I decided to give them their 1st place prize, duly congratulate them, and send them on their way. ;) Just kidding on all that, guys! A game well-played, and I wish you continued success. But, seriously, quit bullshittin’. :D

Here’s the recap!

Round 1: Duh! – DAMN YOU, GERALDO RIVERA!!! For multiple reasons, but mainly because I grew up with people calling me that because they couldn’t say my actual first name right. Not that I’m bitter or anything.

Round 2: Big Hits on Campus – It’s always tricky to have audio of marching bands covering pop songs; the volume level varies a lot from clip to clip. I did my best to stay on top of that but sometimes it’s just hard to hear. And “Tequila” is not by Pee Wee Herman, Team Manwich.

Round 3: Sooner or Later: Welcome Back, Fodder – Here’s where the liars took a stranglehold of the top spot and did not let it go. A well-played round (14/16), a well-used joker... again, well done, boys!

Round 4: A Straight-Up Freakin’ Halloween Round – Oh, what, just because Eddie Murphy co-wrote it, it has to be “Count BLACKULA,” Team G-Mo?!? What’s wrong with you people?!? What do you mean “you people?” What do you mean “you people?!?” Yes, I’m arguing with myself, leave me alone.

Round 5: Auteur-ism – Yes, it’s “Steven Spielberg,” okay? Geez, sorry. We’ve put in a call to his people to issue a formal apology.

Round 6: Missile Crises, Cuban and Otherwise – I’ll tell you what would cure my missile crisis: Anne Hathaway in “Love and Other Drugs.” I’ll take her brand of nerd-girl hot over stupid Zooey Deschanel ANY day! Daniel K., shut up!!! :D

Round 7: Say My Name – I don’t like being yelled at.

Round 8: Random Knowledge – NINETY MPH, guys?!? REALLY?!? Put that on the glass, Sir Mix-a-Lot. Okay, that may have gone a bit too far...
