Some people ask.  Who is Seth?  Well this is an excellent question.  I like to think of one of my favorite quotes:

"The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies. We're made of the interiors of High School Chemistry classes.  We are the equivolent of a modest lab fee."  -Seth Bannister 2013

Other than modifying Carl Sagan quotes, I have also been hosting Geeks Who Drink since October of 2012.  I've been a geek for most of my life and its finally paying off. These days being a geek is cool and hot chicks now buy Star Wars t-shirts and wear fake glasses.  I wear real glasses and have Star Wars tattoos.  Also Arrested Development rules.

I don't want to spoil too many surprises from last night so read on.

Round 1: Mystery Round

Round one had a theme that I wasn't even about to tell you.  By the time almost every team got the Monopoly question right they realized the theme was "Board Games."  Not that it helped everyone, as some teams still managed to answer 0 correct.  At least you are having fun!

Round 2: Let There Be Light

Each answer to the audio round had "light" in the title, and while Kanye West technically is "some black guy" we needed you to be a bit more specific.

  1. Round 3: Sooner or Later: Hall of Fame Game
  2. A hated round by non-sports fans.  I named 3 people who shared the same professional MLB, NBA, or NFL team and you gave me the team.  If that didn't help you then we gave you two more but then each answer was now only worth one point.

Round 4: TV Shows (as described by someone who has never seen them)

This round had TV shows describe by a moron who was more or less describing the show by it's title.

Round 5: Don't Hate the Mayor

We gave you pictures of TV or Movie Mayors and you gave us the show or film they were from.  #3 was hardest one for you all and it was from TVs "acclaimed" Buffy: The Vampire Slayer

Round 6: Who Dat Ninja?

A round on things that are ninjas.  Even though the name of the round was ninja, I said it was a round on ninja's and each question talked about ninja's Scotty still came up and asked "whats the theme of this round?"

Round 7: The Quotable Commercial

Clips from funny commercials were played and you all guess the brand they were advertising.  It even had that funny "shipped my pants" commercial.  Classic!

Round 8: Random Knowledge

As always the game is anyones game (Except Forever Alone a team that comes to Dublin's more for beer than for victories) Welcome to Abusement Park had the lead going into Round 8 and did well enough to keep their win!  One Smart Guy & A Bunch of Retards crawled into 2nd, and Happier than Dikembe Mutombo Blocking A Shot got 3rd….or did they?  I would Warp Speed, If I had a Star Trek challenged Zak's grading of the 8th round and a scorecard was even dug out of the trash…it was now a tie!  How else to break a tie?  Tie Breakers, with Break Dancing.  I stepped in as the champion for Happier but since the team showed little interest in the silly prize for 3rd and Scotty T not only dug through refuse but also danced his ass of he won…shit gets crazy at Geeks.

Remember RUMBLE IN THE PUB!  Compete to compete again..regionally.  Check this page for details.

People said last night would be slow.  They said "Ready for the busiest Geeks Who Drink ever?" but in a sarcastic tone.  Well even though school was out we had a plethora of teams show.  It's probably because most of us don't go to school, we are too damn smart already.  Maybe

Round 1: Recently In Stuff

Questions about stuff that recently happened.  I just watched that Chris Hadfield cover of Space Oddity.  Damn that guy is going to be neck deep in putang.  Do people still say putang?

Round 2: Is There Something You're Trying to Tell Us?

All songs that might be a little bit gay, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Round 3: Misc. Conceptions

This round for all intensive purposes was about common misconceptions.

Round 4: FLILFs!

First Ladies I'd like to Fucking meet.

Round 5: Do Gooders

Visual Round on rich people who like to stand up for a "cause"

Round 6: Muhammads and Alis

People with those names

Round 7: ZooTV

TV themes that had some kind of animal or crustacean, or insect, or arachnid in the title.

Round 8: Random Knowledge

It was, like it always is, close to the bitter end.  The 4 Whoresmen had a perfect Round 8 which solidified their number 1 spot.  No….I'm Texting Girls saved their doubler for last AND got 15 points…good show! Ass Barf 2: The Shartening got third…the real prize here was the personalized head shot of me from High School.  Check out the picture.

These days being a geek is cool and hot chicks now buy Star Wars t-shirts and wear fake glasses.  I wear real glasses and have Star Wars tattoos.  Also Arrested Development rules.

It was quite the rowdy night at Dublins.  Many people showed up to celebrate finals week an pre-graduation.  One group had some chick who turned 21 and thus began her downward spiral into alcoholism and other unspeakable horrors.  Some showed up to play Geeks Who Drink.  But most of us were more concerned with the mob of attractive drunk women who were incessantly blathering on and on and on about shoes or blouses or something of that nature.

So team names:

At first we one Team RAMROD then later in the evening we had RAMROD I thought they just decided to drop the "Team" and keep the RAMROD.  Not true, in fact another team chose RAMROD as well, halfway through.  Then as if this wasn't exciting enough RAMROD became Car RAMROD and minds around the bar were blown.  The funniest team name, in my opinion, was Legalize Gay Weed but they only played the first round, which saddens me.

Rounds:

Round 1: Thirty is the New…Some other number

People or things that began their lives in 1983.  McDonalds never offered a 6,9, or 20 piece serving of Double Cheeseburgers…yet

Round 2: This Is Why We Don't Karaoke Anymore

These were the most popular Karaoke songs.  Without the lyrics.  Title and artist for 2 points.  Eagle and Mountain USA had a perfect score.  Great job fellows.

Round 3: Roundball Redux

A speed round on NBA Playoff teams that have made the post season for four seasons in a row.  You had to name those 8.

Round 4: Heaven and Other Places That Could Never Exist

All of these places were fictional.  Like heaven.

Round 5: My, Uh, Heart Will Go On

Pictures of Kate Winslet naked!  But censored.  You matched them up.

Round 6: Master P.M.S : Before and After

One of my personal favorites.  We gave you a hint to a disease and a famous person.  You smashed them into one name.  For example: The STD that killed Al Capone and Scott Joplin... haunts a legendary comedienne who died in 2012. Syphilis Diller

Round 7: Teach Me, Picture Box!

I played the theme to an old education program and you gave me the title of that program.  It was nice to hear the sweet sound of the Beakman's World theme again after all of these years.

Round 8: Random Knowledge

As most teams doubled in the 2nd round, there weren't and big surprises here.  Eagle Mountain USA and Verbal Obstacle Course were the two top teams.  Fortunately for some bonus points in between the rounds Verbal Obstacle Course pushed into the lead and win all that beautiful prize money.  See you next week!
