"UNDER the Bridge!"

It was an emotional night at the Rio Grande.  Many tears were shed and many goodbyes were had at the last night ever for Geeks Who Drink at any Rio Grande restaurant.  I know I will miss many things about this venue; Chris, Javier, Blake, and all the killer wait staff who have treated me so good these past three or so years, the frozen strawberry margaritas I have come to know and love, but mostly, I will miss the teams.  The Gentlemen Beekeepers, Tetrahedron of Death, Channel 4 news team, Team Mexico, Unemployed in Greenland, and of course, the Monkees and The Strangers, who combined forces tonight to become The Strange Monkees.  You guys were the awesome-ist quizlings a Quizmaster could ask for.

Seeing as how it was my last quiz ever at this venue, I decided to give away all of the remaining internet bonus prizes.  All told, there were about 7 unclaimed prizes in the box o’ geek, and I gave them all away.  The first (and only winner to have her picture taken) lucky quizling was Keeley from The Strange Monkees, and she picked some sort of bizarre change purse.  Congrats Keeley!

I went out the only way I know how:  Like a ninja.  I mean that literally.

Out like a ninja with a smoke bomb.

It was only fitting that The Strange Monkees took home first place, seeing as  they were a super group consisting of two powerhouse teams that were forces to be reckoned with on their own.  Channel 4 news team walked away with second place, and we all felt a little dust in our eyes as Boyz II Men sang in four part harmony about us reaching the end of the road.  Unemployed in Greenland and Good night and good luck were there to see me off on this next chapter of life.

So, to whomever is reading this final blog post, I say Good night and good luck to you all.  May our paths cross on some not-too distant adventure, and in the mean time, always remember to keep it Under the Bridge!

"UNDER the Bridge!"

It was a soggy-bottom night at the Rio in Lone Tree.  Kind of appropriate, considering next week will be my last at this venue.  Yes folks, the sad truth is that after next week, neither I nor any other Quizmaster will be hosting at the Rio Grande restaurant.  Any Rio Grande Restaurant.  So to celebrate, next week we will be having a Pirates vs. Ninjas party at everybody’s favorite upstairs bar.  Dress as your favorite pirate or ninja and come on out to wish not only myself, but all of Geeks Who Drink a fond farewell.  It’ll be awesome.  More so if you are there.

This week, I gave out the Chattering Teeth internet bonus prize to the unnamed team leader of Game Over.  Congrats, mysterious stranger!

As for the big, big prizes, those went to Channel 4 news team (second place) and We've been Pidchay'd (first place), which I pronounced Pid-shay-ed all night long.  Why?  Because I live in America.  That's why.

The Strangers were oh so close to tasting victory tonight, but fell short by a scant two points due largely to the final round.  I would be remiss to leave out the fact that, if The Strangers had used their joker in the second round, they would have walked away with some money.  Just sayin'.

Charlie and his Angels were caught numerous times using cell phones throughout the night.  The excuse I got from one of the Angels was that one of the other Angels was trying to get laid.  I told her she doesn't need a cell phone to do that at the Rio, then two snare drums and a high hat fell off a cliff.  (ba-dum ching!).

Thanks ladies and germs, I'll be here until next week.  Remember to try the veal and tip your waitress.  Seriously, she works hard for the money.

"UNDER the Bridge!"

Brought to you by Geeks Who Drink.

Student:  Hey Ms.  You’re funny…like a lamp!

Teacher:  …

Student:  Ms. Wendy!  Ms. Wendy!  I made poopies!

Teacher:  Thank you, now go wash your hands.

Student:  Hey Mr., Imma call you Mr., okay Mr.?

Teacher:  I took the time to learn your name, the least you could do is learn mine.

Teacher:  Is Antoine here?

Student:  It’s Twizzle.

Teacher:  Twizzles?

Student:  Nah, Twizzle.

Teacher.  Twizzle?

Student:  Nah, it’s Twizzle.

Teacher:  Didn’t I just say that?

In other news:  Tonight saw the return of Unemployed in Greenland and the rise of Funny like a lamp.  I think it was the first quiz that The gentlemen beekeepers didn’t win first place here at the Rio.  Chalk up another milestone!

And now, sleep.  So I can student teach the future leaders of the world tomorrow.
