Hi! We had a fun quiz down at Moe's tonight. It was so exciting with the questions and the laughter and the tears and the fire truck and all of the screaming screaming screaming and oh my God SO MUCH BLOOD. It will surely be a night that we will all remember for the rest of our days.
We had a lot of questions about presidents tonight. Washington, Kennedy, Clinton, Adams, Garfield, Lincoln. They all got a mention. But nobody mentioned Obama. That seems straight up racist. There was also no mention of Polk, Taft or Grant, our other black Presidents. C'mon quiz-writers, get with the times.
I am sorry to report to you all that the character of Ali G was not created by Borat, or by Sasha Webb. It was Bruno Gehard.
Hey kids. Thanks for coming out. You made the night Yabba-Dabba-Delicious. And because not a single team recognized the clip, here are the words to the Josie and the Pusscats theme:
Josie and the Pussycats
Long tails and and ears for hats
Guitars and sharps and flats
Neat, sweet, a groovy song
You're invited, come along.
Hurry, Hurry
See ya all in Persia
Or maybe France
We could be India
Or perchance
Be with us in Bangkok
Make no difference
Everywhere the actions at
We're involved with this or that
Come along now
Josie and the Pussycats
No time for purrs and pats
Won't run when they hear scat
There where the plot begins
Come on and watch the good guys win
Josie and the Pussycats
Josie and the Pussycats.
So there you have it. God Bless these United States (not YOU Delaware!).
Bye!

Hi Everybody! How was your week? Do anything cool? Did you see any new movies? Have you been watching Game of Thrones? Hear any good jokes? Where did you get that cute shirt? Is it new? What's up with that girl at your work who is always wrapped up in some big drama? Can you believe this weather? Is there a problem with your nose or do you choose to breathe through your mouth? YOU FASCINATE ME!
Whoa, sorry. I think I was coming on a bit strong. Nice to see you.
So, we gathered together tonight at MOES BBQ to play some quiz and sink a few beers. It was pretty chill.
The scores did some crazy swings tonight as everyone did a bit of unusual Jokering. It was anybody's quiz to win from the first round forward. There were some teams who totally thought they had a gift card locked down who were left kicking the walls and swearing after Round Eight.
I was talking to Haley, the long-suffering bartender, about how all of pop-culture seems poised for a reboot and while we have a ton of new launches of Spiderman and a tween version of Sex and the City on TV, no one is re-concieving the boardgames we grew up with. What's the hold-up on a celebrity version of CLUE? Would that game not be more fun if the solution to a game was: SETH GREEN in the TANNING SALON with a SOCK FULL OF WOODSCREWS. C'mon Milton Bradley, get with the times.
Ok. Sorry. See you next Tuesday.

There were so many TRUE ROMANCE, or TRUE ROMANCE ADJACENT questions in tonight's quiz that I was forced to break out the track "You're So Cool" by Hans Zimmer during a scoring break. You know, that is the xylophone quartet number that plays beneath all of Patricia Arquette's voiceover dialog in the film as an homage to the Orff percussion quartet music under Sissy Spacek's voiceover in BADLANDS. It was subtle, I know, but as Pub Quiz players I knew with certainty that my music selection would tickle the funnybone of all of you Terrance Mallick, Tony Scott, and Quentin Tarentino soundtrack collectors. Boy, did we ever have a quiet chuckle over that.
Hey Denver! Are you aware that we lost one of our most dedicted Pub Quizzers this week? Chris Haney, who has quizzed for the better part of a decade, at the Irish Rover, The British Bulldog, and at Moes BBQ (I know for a fact that he has sat in with a number of teams that played tonight) was shot in cold blood as he tried to break up a fight last Friday night. He was rushed to hospital and was pronounced dead in the ER. We are holding a benefit concert in his honor at the GOTHIC THEATRE on Friday. Booze, BBQ, Bands. It starts at 6pm and EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR at the door, the bar, and anywhere else goes to Haney's beautiful 5 year old daughter Lydia, who has lost a Dad and a best friend. If you can't make it then go to www.gothictheatre.com and follow the links to donate every cent you can afford to this wonderful little girl who lost her loving Daddy.
Please read the paragraph above again. Read it slowly. Let it sink in. Now, get your credit card out and do something good. Make me proud of you.
OK friends. That's it for another week. Be safe. Be strong. Be brave.
LOVE WINS.
