Ahhhh, Sloan’s on the brink of summer.  It’s a glorious place, with a wonderful ambience, and we are so lucky to have the best Quiz known to humanity happening here every Wednesday.  I think we’re over the half-decade mark come this August; let’s make this an epic summer!  As is known, the GWD Quiz Rumble is coming.  In other words, hold onto your team names, and come and talk with me.  The registration is simple, it’s cheap… and by playing the Quiz at Sloan’s, you can win hundreds of dollars.  No, I am not jesting.  It’s awesome, and by your weekly experience, you can win!!!

I was gladdened by your sweet scores on round five, and impressed by our late-coming team, Wolf Pussy, who did not land in last place.  With awesomeness permeating our Quiz, what can we do but succeed?  *ahem*  Succeed with glory.

Erin W. was the winner of the Internet Bonus Question Prize:  she can now not actually smoke, because she has a deliciously orange set of Roller Derby faux smokes.  Enjoy!  Don’t feel too cool, though, Erin.  Let’s not start bad habits again.  Real cigs don’t taste like brunch… or do they?

Jesus Saves, Gretsky Scores! won 1^st place, and did so with great force.  Congratulations, gentlemen!  2^nd place was taken by their friends, School’s Out for Summer Party—and this is why we separate a team of over six into two.  As friends, they will be sharing the complete booty, no doubt.  My Dixie Wrecked came close but (no cigar), they settled for 3^rd.  A great comeback, but with little return, alas.  Following them by a single point, Very Impressive Teammates landed in 4^th.  Merely two points behind them, Hoisted by my own PICARD gracefully snuck into 5^th; this forced Hard Macaque Café into 6^th, which put them at the noble score of 69.  Awesomer borrowed a baby to round out their team, and came in 7^th.  Hot on their heels, NO TOUCHING!!! would also like to remind us to NEVER SHAKE A BABY!  And, they took 8^th.  Said Wolf Pussy worked their way into 9^th on half a Quiz, while still getting their repeats-only round four in with round five when they were both due—in a word, amazing.  Seymour Butts narrowly avoided last by winning place 10, while Purple Cobras dived into last place, 11^th, but had a delightful time doing so.

Happy New Mixer Day to all of you, my Quizzlings!  What a way to mark the 5^th year of Sloan’s!  Come this summer, I will take a Quiz to give you all the party back.  I cannot begin to describe to you all how lucky I am to have such an outstanding group playing the Quiz.  You’re good people.  You make me laugh.  And you’re actually both smart and good-looking.  A high-five to all of us and let’s make our Quiz even more rad next week!

What can I say, it’s Spring, and I’m lost between the Moon and Denver’s cities—I can’t help but fall in love again.  Our questions covered wolves and  Checkpoint Charlie (shame on you who didn’t know that); somewhere between Faust and Subreddit, we rocked Edgewater and took this Wednesday by storm!

Chris B. was the winner of the Internet Bonus Question Prize, and vowed to bring back the Canadian cool with his newly-acquired breath spray.  Mmmmmmmmmmm… Brrrrrrrrrrrr, eh?

Miss Laurie’s Wild Ride Party held 1^st place through the entire Quiz, although they almost lost it as the points came closer together.  2^nd place was seized by NY Macaque Exchange, and their illustration illuminates the rise and fall.  As such, Musket Balls (which has probably been a smirking statement for at least 200 years) took 3^rd. An odd trio of almost ties followed them into 4^th, 5^th, and 6^th:  Raw Toast, Tea Party Audit Party, and #Hashtag, respectively.  Rawer Toast took 7^th, and settled My Dixie Wrecked into 8^th.  Going, Going, Gonorrhea made me giggle a number of times, but ended up in 9^th place regardless.  Thinking they had last place, Team Hotpants gave 11^th to Guy Bollywood with grace and dignity.

You guys were a great crowd tonight. Seriously fucking awesome. When I got to the venue and discovered that the prong to the mixer was broken, my brain screamed fuck. How in the hell am I going to get through tonight. How are we going to do audio rounds? Thankfully the venue could hook up directly to my computer instead of the mixer. That only left me without a microphone and to shout out the entire quiz. My biggest fear was that you all wouldn't be able to hear me well enough. The fact that you didn't have very many repeats let me know that I was actually getting my voice across the bar. Only one team dropped out after round 6, but I have a feeling it's either because it was late or we had some tough questions and not because of me. No one shouted out any answers at all, something that has plagued me all week. The staff made sure I had a drink in hand at all times to help lubricate my throat, and a couple of you bought me a shot. Alex, thank you for trying to help with a mic for my computer. Hopefullly I will have a back up plan in case audio issues like that happen again. Thank you all for being a great crowd. It was also great to see familiar faces too. People that quiz at multiple venues are a special kind of awesome. Tina will be back next week.
