Many of you missed this comment last night, but I have to say it was one of the best I'd ever received, my quiz is not "user friendly." Of course let's all realize that this was said to me by the drunk table that I called out after they continued asking for repeats on the audio round. (Did you not just hear me say I'm going to repeat them all? Stop being a smartass.) As they were leaving they decided to give me an honest review of my quizzing skills to which I smiled and nodded and then proceeded to write this paragraph about. Don't fuck with the quizmaster, especially if you're going to be drunk and obnoxious about it, and can't take a little fun chastising.
But let's move on to more fun things why don't we. Like classic horror movies. Dude, that's Johnny Depp! through off a lot of teams. I don't consider "Edward Sissorhands" to be horror. It's more a beautiful drama about a boy who just wants to fit in and society who shuns him away from all normality. Dontcha think? And evil clown dolls are in several horror films. Apparently so many that we mix them up a lot. I bet you are still afraid of clowns aren't you? Well watch out before they come get you in your sleep!
In case you were wondering, there is a Christian Weird Al-like band called the Apologetix. They replace heathen lyrics with more God-friendly ones, like in their parody of Bohemian Rhapsody, "God wins every battle for me." So naming the original song and artist should have been semi easy (unless you were drunk, talking through the round, and then calling for individual repeats...oh wait, we were going to stop talking about them). In fact it was easily our best round of the night. Commonly missed songs were "1985" by Bowling for Soup (often confused for "Stacey's Mom"), and "Cupid's Chokehold by Gym Class Heroes. Yes I know it sounds like Supertramp, they sampled "Girlfriend" in the song, doesn't make it the actual song as there are some major differences between the two. Listen to them both, you'll see.
Things longer than Kim Kardashian's marriage: life of a sea monkey, gestation for a chimpanzee, the NFL season, her engagement to Kris Humphries. You attention whore.
Cheese is delicious, which is why we dedicated an entire round to it. Yum. Also, I learned there was an old video game (for Sega and Nintendo) that starred Chester Cheetah. Apparently it was "lame" says a quizzer, but then what video game based after a fictional character to sell junk food isn't? FYI, there are other Russian names besides Boris and Natasha, but nice try using them as all your answer on round 5. At least you got one right. And for those who got none right, I need to introduce you to a few friends of mine, Rocky and Bullwinkle (moose and squirrel!).
Also, to that one team who doesn't know Jambi the Genie, I weep for your childhood.
Did you know there was a love theme for "Con Air?" Yeah, I didn't either. Also, there is no love theme for Episode III. Everyone dies, that's not love. Great night last night, I'd like to thank everyone who showed up. We had several new teams and a guest appearance from the Slumpbusters which threw our regulars for a loop. We quiz every Tuesday at 8, so unless you're doing something better, and really what's better than quiz, you should be here. We have a blast. We also yell at people. Don't worry, I'm very user friendly, as long as you follow the rules. Until next time, Think Geek!

Maybe this dates me, but I don’t actually remember a time before YouTube. I know there was one, I know it existed, like I know that the internet hasn’t always been around, but it’s just so much a part of my daily life it’s hard to remember a time without it. Also, YouTube debuted in 2005, my freshman year of college and exactly when I needed to look up random clips of cats falling asleep or doing other absurdly cute things…much more fun then studying (stop worrying Mom, I already graduated).
So a few notes on tonight’s quiz:
I guess my biggest take away from tonight’s quiz is actually a nugget of advice for you quizzers…listen to the damn questions. Especially the audio rounds. Usually they’re really easy and like tonight’s movie round often the answer was IN THE DAMN CLUE! Seriously people…But I understand by round 7 you’re probably drunk (if I’m doing my job, really drunk if I’m not) so I won’t hold it against you. I’ll just laugh at you all behind your backs when you don’t get references to Jay Gatsby.
So have a great week, enjoy this amazing spring/summer weather until it leaves us again this weekend. Pray we don’t get snow in May, and I’ll see everyone next Tuesday for another amazing adventure in Geeks Who Drink pub quiz!

Actually if you’re any age you should never have a clown at your party. I never had a clown, and I still turned out normal…mostly. But really, think about any movie clown you’ve ever seen, why would you want one at your party? That drunk clown in Uncle Buck, Crazy Joe Davola in Seinfeld, no thank you.
In the eternal Backstreet Boys v N*SYNC battle, I think N*SYNC is winning with my teams. At least that’s their favorite boy band answer. Now, don’t get me wrong, I swooned over Justin like the rest of you, but there are other bands (as my sister likes to point out to me). And remember when our biggest cell phone worries were that all these calls from crazy girlfriends were running down your battery? Nothing about the stalking features of FourSquare, Facebook, and Twitter, “I’m going somewhere nearby…” but you don’t know where!
Schools my geeks will not be getting in to: Amherst, M.I.T., Princeton, Duke. Schools they want to get in to but still won’t: NYU, West Point, Julliard, UC-Berkley. Cartoons we didn’t watch enough of as kids: Thundercats, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Real Ghostbusters. Cartoons we watched too much: He-Man, GI Joe, The Flintstones.
Round Six’s “War on Women” turned in to a War on Geography, as I stupidly asked my teams to identify the capital of Kansas. Wichita is incorrect. Just FYI. Also, ladies, don’t move to Virginia or Arizona (if you want to get an abortion), or Wisconsin (if you want to make decent money). Just trust me on this one.
If I ever meet God, and he’s not Morgan Freeman, I’ll be a bit disappointed that Hollywood lied to me all these years. He just seems like the perfect manifestation right? Maybe James Earl Jones, but definitely one of the two.
This is how out of date I am, my last video game console (until mom sold it) was a Sega Dreamcast. Sega doesn’t even make video games anymore. I’m pretty sure Sonic is owned by Nintendo now. Also I don’t remember what D.A.R.E. stands for, but my quizzers do. I wonder if I was on something when they taught me that…
A rather quiet night at Freshcraft. I don’t know if it’s the gorgeous weather or the Rockies playing but you should shun both of those on Tuesday nights and come play quiz. Of course if you don’t come those who do have that much of a better chance at winning our prizes. So for the sake of my regular teams…don’t. (No really do, it’s fun).
Also, congrats to our brand new team who took 3rd place tonight! Hope to see you (and everyone really) back next week. Until then enjoy this amazing weather! Stay geeky!
