We had 17 teams last night, well 16 really because one team just trolled me for a few rounds and got ZERO answers correct. Still though, I'm super happy with last nights turnout, thank you all for coming. Well almost all of you, there was that one team, but I'm not going to dwell on that. Speaking of the team that got zero answers correct, you guys are awesome. Reading funny answers always amuses me and I'm glad you guys got to have fun.
There was some pretty stiff competition last night. The roster was pretty much set up until round 8 when Unitarian Jihad finally used their joker and skyrocketed from I think it was 6th all the way to 2nd. Wanna Hear Something Gross? took first early and kept it all night, winning by two points while Brainiac 6 came in 3rd. I think I'm going to give best team name to Bengazi: The Argument though there were many good team names. Also the first place team *almost* got their name on the High Score board, they'll have to get an 86 however to knock down the Brainiacs.
A few things I want to mention about GWD on a large scale, not just local. On June 8th there will be a themed Game of Thrones quiz up in Denver. You all should put together a team so I can have familiar faces to beat. You can find the link here. Also up in Denver will be the "Rumble in the Pub" GWD regional championship with details you can find here.
On a more personal note, I saw the new Star Trek movie just now. It was kind of amazing. Not sure if it was as good as the first one but I'm still pretty happy. Even if you're not Star Trek fans, go and see the movie, it's solid.

So I got a little sloppy last night. New Belgium takeovers are pretty awesome, I like almost all their beer. Drinking and foreign words don't mix well for me, I think I mispronounced about half of that quiz. Oh well!
This week quiz was a little harder than normal it seems, high score being 75 and averages in the 50ish area. We did however have a clusterfuck of people at the start of quiz, it's going to be like this in the summer I think so I'll just have to deal with that.
I feel bad when I have nothing witty to write about some weeks. Last week I got a good amount of writing done but this week I've got nothing. Usually I'm playing League of Legends and writing the blog inbetween games but today I even logged off to try and come up with something to write about. I failed.
Quiz recaps are dumb, if you were there you know what happened and if you weren't there you probably don't care. I'm going to try and wean myself off filling up space with quiz recap. One thing I will say is that someone told me they couldn't find the pictures I take, which surprises me because I post them both here and on facebook. Here they are just tiny little thumbnails but on facebook I upload the full-rez versions. Speaking of the facebook page, you can find that here.
A couple things to note. First, there is a Game of Thrones themed quiz in Denver on the 8th(?). You can find out more details on the main GWD page, I fully plan on bringing a team that will crush your hopes and dreams but you should still come. Secondly, GWD is for reals hiring right now. I believe we have two spots open, one on Wed the other on Thur. Pretty much anyone can do this job, just be able to speak in front of a bunch of people and have at least a little wit. I'm not really a super funny guy but they hired me so I'm pretty sure any of you will do fine.

I actually don't have a followup for that sweet title. I couldn't really use anything else after the quiz this week. Many of our rounds use innuendo or imply certain things but this is the first one I've seen that just rolls around in the dirt and doesn't even try to be subtle. I love it. What's even best was that it was only the second most awesome round of the night. R7 was easily my favorite round of this year so far, the only one I wouldn't have gotten was the Neo Geo, which is funny because I haven't actually owned most of those systems. I think I still have my old gameboy somewhere. Most of my fondest memories of gaming come from games on the original gameboy. Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, so many good classic games on the gameboy. I kind of want to find that startup sound and make it my ringtone for awhile. If I heard that randomly in a room it would definitely turn my head.
But enough about video games, I know some of you give no shits about video games and that makes me sad. We'll talk about quiz instead. Thanks to the 5 teams who braved the snow, terrifying though it is to Coloradoans. 1 inch of snow and everyone freaks out, whatever. My Test Results Put Me In A Positive Mood came in first by one point. That one point is the bonus point I gave for knowing what the G in "G-spot" stood for. Usually when I give a bonus point I make sure it doesn't count in the top 3 but I decided that this question was such a legit trivia question I'd let it stand. Also the fact that more than one team got it right helps as well. Usually my bonus questions are super hard and extremely specific to a certain field of knowledge like chemistry or math but this one was a much more general type of question. I am however kind of bummed because without that extra point, we would have had a tie and my tiebreaker round is pretty badass. Coming in a close second by one point was Brainiac 3, you guys need to study up on the
G-spot clearly, next time you'll be prepared. In third place was We Still Have Our Dignity, something that is clearly not true for any team that plays at my quiz.
I feel kind of bad that I didn't get the Anyong reference made by the last place team because I love Arrested Developement. I think what threw me off is the fact that I've actually been to Korea and know how to actually say hello. Also it's spelled annyeonghaseyo, if you leave off the haseyo it's a slang version, kind of like saying "hi". Instead of using the slang version, most people in Korea just skip over parts of the word and it ends up sounding like an-ah-say-oh. If they had written annyeong I would have gotten it right off the bat.
Alright, so I typed all this in notepad and now I'm going to transfer it to the disease-ridden whore of a website GWD uses and hope the internet gods accept the sacrifice of last weeks blog. Man I was so mad last week. I had written a great blog, much better than this one and instead of uploading properly it just took a shit on the floor and told me to fuck off. Here goes nothin.
